‘Espetos’ on the menu at El Barco

Apart from an exquisite selection of grilled meats, the restaurant offers other specialities such as the grilled vegetable platter and ‘bullit de peix’.

The popular restaurant El Barco, located on the beach at Talamanca, has introduced a tasty new addition to its menu this season, the traditional espetos (freshly caught seafood, traditionally barbecued on wooden skewers). You can sample the genuine flavours of the sea, cooked fishermen’s style over wood, every Thursday to Saturday, from 19:30. El Barco, which has a large dining room for hosting large groups of family or friends, also offers a large selection of chargrilled meats. The menu features other tasty bites such as a platter of grilled vegetables or a delicious fish and seafood paella. Without a doubt, the absolute star of the menu has to be the sea bass in a salt crust, but equally popular dishes are the ‘bullit de peix’ (a classic Ibizan fish stew) and the ‘salmorra’.

The ‘bullit de peix’ comes in two servings: a first course of fish with potatoes and allioli, with a second course of rice. The traditional salmorra is prepared with fish such as red scorpionfish, grouper or John Dory, and a delicious sofrito sauce. Another new addition this year is the salmorra with lobster. Apart from the dazzling array of Ibizan classics, you can also opt for a more innovative meal choice, such as steak tartare, tataki or red tuna tartare. The restaurant also stocks an excellent Manchego cheese and has a master ham carver at the ready to slice you some acorn-fed ibérico ham. To finish on a sweet note, there is a scrumptious selection of homemade desserts to choose from. The beachfront location permits the restaurant to provide a beach service, allowing you to enjoy the wonderful food from the comfort of your sun-lounger.
