Choosing the exact piece of meat, fish or vegetable you want to eat for dinner is a privilege that is to everyone’s benefit at El Pulpo restaurant. All you have to do is go up to the counter and pick your product, and on to the grill it goes. Every night the coals are lit, ready and waiting to cook your food in the healthiest way possible. At El Pulpo they always use the best quality coals to give the food the perfect temperature and characteristic aroma, which invites all your senses to sit down and enjoy the succulent flavours. A particularly delicious option on the grill is the gilthead sea bream, a fish that is hard to find at many other places on the island. The restaurant also offers many other dishes that were traditionally cooked by Ibizan fishermen and it uses fish sourced with the ‘Peix Nostrum’ label – which guarantees the Ibizan origin of the catch – for its specialities such as ‘salmorra’ (fish made with a sofrito sauce) or the traditional ‘bullit de peix’ (fish stew). Like any good beach restaurant in Ibiza, there is a great choice of salads, including the typical ‘payesa’ (farmhouse salad), mixed, green, with salmon and mango, chicken, with tomato and onion, with anchovies… It would be a great shame to leave the building without first sampling one of their incredible desserts, such as the famous homemade tiramisu, and the Café Caleta (an old fishermen’s recipe made with brandy, coffee beans, cinnamon, lemon and orange) comes highly recommended; at El Pulpo it is prepared with love and care following the old Ibizan traditional and transports the diner back in time to another era. This respect for tradition and flavours is the key to its customer loyalty, and why they come back time after time. As for tourists, well there’s no better way to get to know the local cuisine. The kitchen is open every day from 13:00 to 18:00 and from 19:00 to midnight. The grill is alight from 19:00 until 01:00.
